Arts + Climate innovation: Coexistence with our natural world

Arts + Climate Innovation:

Coexistence with our Natural World

Exploring the powerful role arts and culture can play inspiring climate action

Track Zero is proud to be partnering with Auckland Arts Festival 2021 to deliver this inspiring kōrero with leading thinkers in the sciences and creative and cultural communities, bringing their perspectives on the powerful role cultural knowledge, artistic expression and stories can play in shaping a fair, carbon neutral future.

The talk is complimented with a practical workshop providing simple tips for households to reduce their carbon footprint and waste – part of a free series of Festival Community Day events in Aotea Square, 1.30 – 2.30pm, Sunday 14 March.

Ko Ranginui kei runga, ko Papatūānuku kei raro, ko mātou e noho ana kei waenganui… With the sky above and the earth below, how do we inhabit the space between?

Climate change can be seen as a cultural issue, in that we need to deeply change our values and behaviour to coexist with our land, rivers and the ocean, rather than changing the climate itself. Indigenous peoples have developed cultural and artistic traditions that are unique to Aotearoa and the Pacific region that provide opportunities for understanding and protecting our natural world and living together. Join renowned artists and scientists in a discussion about how cultural knowledge, artistic expression and stories are inextricably linked to the world in which we live and how a deeper understanding of these inter-connections can help us to shape a better future.

This talk is part of  The Civic Club programme, a very special collection of events which sees the audience seated on stage at The Civic.
